Living the Dream

Sometimes dreams do come true. I’m living out one of my earliest ones right now. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve dreamed of becoming an author. When I was nine years old, I knew I was following the beckoning of my heart as I sat at our picnic table overlooking the Choptank River and penned (or is it penciled?) the words to Revolutionary Annie (a stunning tale about a girl my age named Annie, who encountered the likes of George Washington and Betsy Ross in Philadelphia during the Revolution.) Many years passed with many higher callings taking priority. Although I was confident the ministry I’d invested my life in was more than worth the deferment of a dream, I also trusted God to make the rough ways smooth for me to write someday. I believed He created me with the huge desire, and much smaller talent, to create, and it was time I did something about that. For the last few years, I’ve fought to make time in my schedule to pursue that young passion.

Exactly one month ago, my first book, We Wait You, was available for purchase. It has been an exhilarating ride ever since! I’ve been so encouraged with the positive feedback I keep getting, especially hearing that my words have touched hearts and caused people to see a glimmer of how truly awesome our God is. That has made it all worth it – the years of waiting to find time to pursue this dream and the years of hard work spent writing it. I hope this is a dream from which I’ll never awake.
