It’s the season for giving and I wanted to let you know of an opportunity to invest in a ministry that’s dear to my heart. Many of you have told me that you feel drawn to the Romanians you met through my book. The needs are great for these nationals serving on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ. Their vital ministries are reaching many people in all segments of Romanian society. I want to make you aware of their needs in case God should so move in your heart that you would want to help. I also understand that your own economic situation may have tightened up in past months, but let me paint a picture of what it’s like in a country that’s rebuilding after decades of abuse.
Romanians have long been accustomed to living much simpler and with less money than Americans. However, since their country joined the European Union last year, prices for everything soared overnight. Milk prices rose to over $7 per gallon, gas to over $6, and rents climbed 30%. Several of the staff had landlords at their door the very next day, demanding more rent money. It didn’t matter that they had legal contracts for a set rate. Now that they were EU, their apartments were worth more. These nationals had moved away from homes where they could live with family to follow God’s call to reach university students, who happen to be in large cities with skyrocketing rents. Like staff members all over the world, Romanian nationals raise their own financial needs, but they do that in a country where people have much less to give.
Please take a moment to ask God to provide for these dear ones, and then ask if He might want you to be part of that answer. If you would like to help meet the needs of the Romanian national staff, you can go to https://give.ccci.org/give/2725442. Thank you, and God bless you!
