I’m not sure what has happened to me, but I’ve never been as organized and on top of Christmas preparations as I am this year. Before it was even Thanksgiving, we dressed up our baby granddaughter and took Christmas photos with her. As soon as we dried and put away our final Thanksgiving platter, I whipped out our Christmas cards and decked the house from top to bottom. While Nat King Cole sang about chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Steve put up the tree and lights and I trimmed it.
Never before have I had all these things done by the first of December. It could be because this will be our last December in California and we want to make it count. We have now officially begun our final year countdown to our big move back East. We want to experience everything there is to enjoy here in Bay Area before we leave. Our calendar is stuffed so full that we are going to have to jealously guard our time to do what I love best during the holiday season – snuggling in a dark house illuminated only by white tree lights and candles and filled with Christmas music.
